LSTR - A Parsing Utility for the USBBS BBS List
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Version 2.0 02/09/95
INTRODUCTION: LSTR ("Lister") is a utility which creates a listing
from the Darwin BBS National BBS Listing (which is updated monthly),
for those BBS's which operate at a maximum of 28,800 baud. The "Darwin
List" is probably the most carefully monitored and updated National BBS
list available. However, many of us enjoy our 28800 baud modems, and
prefer to save long distance charges by only calling long distance 28800
baud BBS's. Since there are currently two 28800 baud "standards" (v.fast
and v.34) which are not completely compatible, LSTR includes the command
line options to create the following lists: all 28800 baud BBS's, just
28800 baud v.fast BBS's, and (when available in the Darwin list) all
28800 baud v.34 BBS's. LSTR is easy to use, and automatically
recognizes USBBSnn(n).LST (where nn(n), the list version, is any number).
INCLUDED FILES:
LSTR.EXE The executable file
LSTR.DOC This documentation file
REGISTER.FRM Your registration form
SHAREWARE STATEMENT AND WARRANTY: LSTR is marketed as shareware, which
means that if you use it for more than a month, and plan on continuing to
use it, you are morally and legally obligated to pay the insanely low $5
registration fee. If you are a religious person, you should know that God
will know whether or not you register. If you're a paranoid person, if you
don't register, this program will contact me and I'll send either three
Federal Agents or my friend Guido to visit you. If you DO register, my mother
will soon get that operation she needs, and she'll pray for you every night!
Re warranty, there is NO warranty for LSTR: you use the software
entirely at your own risk (we gotta say that).
USING LSTR: Create a subdirectory to use with LSTR (I call mine
"LSTR"). Copy the LSTR.EXE file and your latest USBBS list file into
the same directory. Then call LSTR, using any of the following command
line options:
LSTR (no command line: creates list of ALL 9600 baud BBS's)
LSTR /? (calls Lister96 help screen)
LSTR /F (creates list of ONLY v.fast BBS's)
LSTR /V (creates list of ONLY v.34 BBS's
[when the Darwin List includes it: soon!])
LSTR creates a file called 28LSTRnnn (where "nnn" is the list number)
with the listings described above.
ASSISTANCE: Call our support BBS, Suncoast City BBS, 813-953-5505 for
assistance if required (we're currently at 28.8 v.fast)
